EXCERPT

Felix Gets Old fashioned ADD treatment.

A large man with a uniform that had a peace keeper logo on it appeared. "Are you Felix Dernoft?" I nodded.

His right hand extended like he was going to clasp my shoulder then changed direction and speed as it slammed into my left cheek tossing me to the floor.

"Felix Dernoft, you will communicate verbally with me as I do not speak nods. Get up and let’s go."

I jumped up and stood waiting for him to tell me where we were going but he started walking fast instead and I had to run to catch up. Thinking I would walk next to him I tried to get even as his right hand swung out to the side palming my face and throwing me behind him as he turned on me.

"Where do you think you are going Dernoft? You follow, get it?'

"Yes."

"Yes Sir will be your response." I nodded, he backhanded, I got back up.

"Yes...sir."

He grabbed my shoulder and looked at my back then back to my face. "I was just checking to see if there was any technological reason why you were slow Dernoft. Sorry to say I found no excuses. You will be with me for three days as a sentence for your behavior in the classroom today." His face a centimeter from mine "You will form a shitty opinion of me so you might as well start now." He spun and walked off again, this time I stayed a meter behind him.

We arrive at a room I had never been to before with a lot of bunks, all three high. "Dernoft, your home for the next three days will be bunk one three five." I just looked at him trying to interpret what he had said. He made to move his right hand and I screamed "yes sir" before I took off running to anywhere. I had no idea what one three five meant but I would figure it out without any more beatings I hoped. Looking over my shoulder I could see he was following me and looked like he was angry. I turned left down an aisle then right between two bunks before my face met big guy's forearm. "Dernoft, do you have any questions on how to find your bunk and what else you were supposed to do? Surely you do not think the next three days will be spent in your bunk when you do manage to find it."

"Yes sir" I said from my position on my back looking up at all five of the versions of the big man that now occupied my vision. My vision settled down to one big man with his feet wide apart and fists on his hips glaring at me. I got up.

"Dernoft, let's try this again. You are assigned to bunk one three five" his right hand shot out and grabbed my left shoulder as I was turning to run again "which is two rows that way and the number is on the bunk post like this." He pointed to the post next to me as an example. "On your bunk there is an epad and stylus you will need for the session you are now ten minutes late for. Get it now and meet me back here...go!" He turned me loose and I ran where he indicated, grabbed the items and returned.

"Dernoft, see how much easier things are when you wait for all of the instructions?"

"Yes sir!"
